Mel Kadel, born in 1973, grew up in the Pennsylvania suburbs. She has been living and working in Los Angeles, CA. for the last 10 years. Mel creates ink drawings using found or stained paper, tiny pens, q-tips, and glue. The figures in her work portray a strength and defiance, while never accepting the label of victim. The narrative has been growing over many years, and continues to evolve while the female characters conquer the obstacles.
