Born in Kyoto, 1978. KYOTARO began to get inspiration from fairy tales and story book artwork at an early age. She moved to Tokyo in 1999. In 2000, she had a show at P-house in Ebisu, Tokyo and began to move away from manga style art and experiment with different styles. Studio Voice magazine began a serialized story of her art in 2002 that ran for one year. This story subsequently became a book published by Presspop Gallery in 2004 entitled “The Baby Shower Story”. In march 2006 she participated in “The Armory Show” in NY. Also in NY in October, 2006 she had Docomodake Art Exhibition, “How to cook docomodake?” In 2008, July, at Mizuma Action Tokyo, she exhibit her solo show entitled “Heaven’s Trip”.
